Delightful and slightly risqué set of cards made by F.X. Schmid for “Beet,” a Dutch magazine about fishing, featuring the wonderful designs of Willy Jacob. The designs were first used in 1981 for the Paul Parey publishing house, and again in 1985 and 2002 for a German magazine, “Blinker.” This “Beet” deck was published in 2003.
The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 3 Jokers. It includes a folded cardboard paper insert in Dutch that I assume describes the deck and its relationship to the magazine. The cards are slightly large bridge size, measuring 92mm x 59mm, and come in a plastic box that is probably not original.
The cards are “as new.” The box is in excellent condition.
