Beautiful modern reprint of a deck from 1835 by Christian August Muller, made by Berlin Spielkarten Fabrik in 1978 in a limited edition of 2000, of which this set is no. 0000. The title of the deck in 1835 and in this 1978 reprint is “Landleben” which translates to “Country Life” in English. As one would expect, the cards depict scenes of country life and the court cards are figures with a rural appearance.
The deck has the usual 32 suited cards of a skat deck, plus an extra card introducing the deck and giving the number of the deck in the limited edition run. The cards are accompanied by a folded paper insert in German that I assume gives the history of the Muller original. The cards are long and slightly wide, measuring 101mm x 61mm, and come in the original custom box.
The cards, paper insert and box are “as new.”
