Delightful deck made by Carta Mundi for the Charcot Foundation, a leading organization in Belgium devoted to research into the treatment of multiple sclerosis. It features cartoons on the Aces, Jokers and court cards from famous cartoon series, including Smurfs, Tintin, etc. The pips have a charming unique design. I am uncertain of the date of the cards, but the Charcot Foundation was founded in 1987, and I assume that the deck was published in connection with an early fund raising effort.
The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus 2 extra cards in with a description of the Foundation in different languages. The cards are slightly small bridge size, measuring 88mm x 56mm, and come in the original box.
The cards and box are “as new.”
