Wonderful Mah-Jongg card set, published by the Continental Mah-Jongg Sales Co. of Amsterdam. Fournier dates these cards c.1930, while Keller (Cary Collection) dates them c.1935, and so I have adopted these years as likely inclusive years.
The set has a total of 144 cards, divided among 4 separate boxes, numbered 1-4. The cards are accompanied by a booklet in Dutch with Babcok’s Rules for Mah-Jongg, and 2 large insert cards with information and advertising on both sides, again in Dutch. The playing cards are patience size, measuring 61mm x 41mm, and the cards and booklet come in the original box – a cardboard tray that slides inside a sleeve.
The cards are in very good used condition, with some wear and evidence of handling, but without major issues. The booklet and explanatory extra cards are in excellent condition. The box tray has 2 corners that have been taped, and the sleeve has wear at the edges.
