Grimaud “Les Montgolfieres” Playing Cards, c.1983Grimaud “Les Montgolfieres” Playing Cards, c.1983Grimaud “Les Montgolfieres” Playing Cards, c.1983

Mint, sealed (cards, not box) deck made by Grimaud c.1983 titled, “Les Montgolfieres,” celebrating Etienne and Joseph de Montgolfier, with beautiful illustrations of the hot air balloons the brothers made famous and that bore their names. Balloons are shown on the Aces, Jokers, and court cards. The backs show a medallion with the two brothers, and the pip cards are impressed upon an imitation “watermark” of the medallion. The faces of the cards can be seen at the World Web Playing Card Museum (WWPCM #04759).

The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus an extra card describing the brothers. The cards are wide, measuring 88mm x 62mm and come in the original box.

As noted, the cards are mint and sealed. The box is “as new.”
