Beginning in or about 1905, Dondorf made a series of quartet card games for children, including this one intended for sale in Holland, “De Vogelwereld” (“The Bird World”). All of the writing on the box and the identification of the individual birds on the cards is in Dutch. The name of the species to which each bird belongs is given in Latin, next to the Dutch name of the individual bird.
There are 10 “families” of 4 cards each. The cards are slightly small bridge size, measuring 86mm x 59mm, and come in the original telescope type box.
It is worth remembering that these cards were published for use by children. That said, I think that the cards are in what should be described as excellent used condition, with edge wear and light soiling, but otherwise without issues. The artwork is beautiful, as one would expect. The box is in fair condition, with considerable wear and soiling, a split along one edge of the outer box, and ample tape holding it together.
Thanks for visiting.
