De La Rue “P&O” Maritime Playing Cards, c.1930s?De La Rue “P&O” Maritime Playing Cards, c.1930s?De La Rue “P&O” Maritime Playing Cards, c.1930s?

Mint, sealed (cards, not box) deck made for Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company by De La Rue. The World Web Playing Card Museum dates this deck and its box c.1930s and I have done likewise, but it should be noted that the WWPCM somewhat inconsistently dates decks for the Ellerman line that have the Joker used by De La Rue in this set to the 1940s.

I assume that the deck has at least 52 cards, plus 1 Joker. They are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, and come in the original telescope type box.

As noted, the cards are mint and sealed. The box is “as new.”

These cards have different backs than those of another mint, sealed P&O deck for sale in this shop (see, T00002316).

Thanks for visiting.
