Delightful skat deck made c.1977 by Coeur, titled “Schach” (“Cherss”), featuring the wonderful designs of Hannelore Heise. Each card has a bust size illustration of a person on top of the lower part of a chess piece; the chess piece sits on a chess board. The persons are engaged in a variety of tasks.
The deck has 32 cards, plus an extra card introducing the deck. The suits are German suits – bells, leaves, hearts, and acorns. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, and come in a plastic box that is probably original.
The cards in excellent condition, “as new” or very nearly so. The box, never sturdy, has a crack along the base of the lower part.
