Beginning in 1982, Carta Mundi made a series of decks for Depka of Holland, the “Gemeente” (“Town”) series, which doubled as playing cards and quartet cards. Each deck featured photographs of a particular Dutch town. The 8 decks listed here are from that series. There are 3 in color – for the towns of Woerden, Alkmaar, and Haarlemmermeer – and 5 in black and white – Terneuzen, Lint, Bellingwedde, Aalsmeer, and Budel. The cards of all 8 decks are in excellent, “as new” condition. Seven of the 8 decks have their original cardboard boxes, while 1 of the decks (i.e., Haarlemmermeer) is in a plastic box that is not original. Each deck is available separately for $10, and all 8 are for sale for $75.
The pictures of this listing show the boxes, front and back of all 8 decks, and the cards from 1 of the color decks (i.e., Woerden), and 1 of the black and white decks (i.e., Terneuzen). Each deck is separately available for $10; all 8 are for sale for $75.
Each deck has 52 suited cards, plus 3 “Jokers.” The Jokers are cards with descriptive information about the town or particular aspects of it. The cards are slightly thin bridge size, measuring 88mm x 56mm.
As noted, all cards are “as new.” The 7 original cardboard boxes are clean, but with varying amounts of shelf wear. The plastic box that houses the Haarlemmermeer deck is in excellent condition.
THE AMOUNT SHOWN FOR DOMESTIC SHIPPING AND INSURANCE ASSUMES THAT ALL 8 DECKS ARE PURCHASED. IF FEWER THAN 8 ARE PURCHASED, SHIPPING AND INSURANCE ARE LIKELY TO BE LESS.
