Excellent set of Dondorf's gorgeous "Club" cards, No. 174, sometimes called Cartes du Beau Monde, made c.1915, featuring beautiful scenic Aces depicting scenes from around the world. These Aces are double ended, with a scene at each end of each Ace. The tax stamp on the Ace of Diamonds is a Danish stamp which was used until 1918, and from the size of the indices, I think it is likely the cards date later than 1912.
The deck is complete at 52 cards (never a Joker). The cards are large, measuring 93mm x 62mm, with gold gilt at the corners. They come in the original box.
The cards are in excellent lightly used condition, with modest edge wear and evidence of handling; about 50% of the gold gilt is intact. The box is in good condition, quite clean, but with significant tears developing along the edges at the back of the box.
