Mint set of “Galaxy” cards, a brand made by King Press as part of its Fan C Pak series, with an illustration of “John Alden and Priscilla” on the backs. I assume that this is John Alden, Sr., the crew member on the Mayflower, who married Priscilla Mullins. The tax stamp was canceled by King Press in 1930, but the Ace of Spades identifies the deck as the King Press “Victory” brand, with a reference to Fan C Pak. The box is a custom John and Priscilla Fan C Pak box.
The deck is mint and sealed, but the cellophane has been broken and it has been possible to remove the Ace of Spades and Joker. I have done so to inspect them and photograph them for this listing, but am unwilling to take out any more cards for fear of losing the cellophane altogether. The deck has 52 suited cards, plus the Joker shown. The court cards are standard; they are not the Past-L-Eze courts of the Fairchild Fan C Pak “Old Curiosity Shop” decks shown in this shop (T00003183). The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, with gold gilt around, and come in the original custom box noted.
The cards are mint, though, as noted, I have slipped out the Joker and Ace of Spades from a break in the cellophane to inspect and photograph them for this listing. The box is in excellent condition; it has a two tone shading/coloration that I think is original and intentional but looks a bit like soiling/staining and may in fact include a slight amount of both.
