Excellent double deck set of the wonderful playing cards made by Fournier, titled "Romance Espagnol," featuring the beautiful designs of Fournier's then artistic director, C.S. de Tejada. Fournier made these cards starting in or about 1951; however, each deck of this particular set is dated 1959 on the 4 of Clubs, and each has a tax stamp consistent with that date.
Each deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus an insert card with canasta and contract bridge scoring. The cards are also accompanied by a paper insert in English, French and Spanish describing them. The cards are wide, measuring 89mm x 63mm, with gold gilt on the corners. They come in the original box.
The cards are in excellent condition, lightly used if at all, with almost all gold gilt intact. The box is in very good condition, with very light soiling and wear on one edge on the back.
