Mint, sealed (cards, not box) deck of wonderful cards published by Merrimack during the year of the U.S. bicentennial, featuring color illustrations of 52 of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. Beneath each signer portrait is a facsimile signature of the signer as it appears on the Declaration itself, including the famous and prominent signature of John Hancock (King of Clubs). There is an illustration on each of the 52 suited cards, and the portrait illustrations are original to this deck; I do not know the artist, and do not know which 4 signers of the Declaration are not included. The portraits are not particularly flattering, and on the whole, the signers are portrayed as a somewhat dour group. The last 2 pictures are of the actual deck for sale; the earlier pictures, including the featured picture, are from an open deck of the cards.
The deck has 52 suited cards, plus 1 Joker announcing the momentous event. The cards are wide, measuring 89mm x 64mm, and come in the original box.
The cards are mint and sealed. The box is in excellent condition.
