Mint deck of very special cards, made c.1981 by Hoyle Products and published by Triangle Publications before its acquisition by Rupert Murdoch, commemorating the opening of the Cam Henderson Center, an indoor athletics facility on the Marshall University campus. The cards celebrate the Marshall Thundering Herd men’s basketball program, a program that at that time was one of the premier programs in the country. Each of the 52 suited cards has a photo of one of its great players, including Hal Greer, Mike D’Antoni, and Andy Tonkovich, although some of the photos are on more than one card. Marshall’s legendary coach, Cam Henderson, after whom the Center is named, is on the Ace of Spades.
The deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers. One of the Jokers announces the Center; the other is advertising for Triangle Publications. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 57mm, and come in the original box.
The cards are mint. The box is “as new.”
