Excellent, complete set of wonderful souvenir cards, published by P.J. Wenger Co., c.1932, to commemorate the 10th Olympiad, held in Los Angeles. The deck features photographs of then contemporary movie stars on the court cards, and photographs of Olympiad locations on the Aces. The Joker is Joe E. Brown. The court cards are double-ended in the sense that there are different photos at either end of the card – 24 movie stars in all on the court cards, plus 1 on the Joker noted. Each movie star pictured is identified on the card in a little “nameplate.” The pip cards show what I assume to be the then flags of participating nations, and the backs show the official “Call to the Games.”
The deck has 52 cards, plus the Joe E. Brown Joker. The cards are slightly small bridge size, measuring 87mm x 56mm, and come in the original box.
The cards are in excellent condition, very lightly used if at all; there is a manufacturing flaw in the Joker which presents as a very light stain, but it is “built in” to the card. The box is also in excellent condition.
