Beautiful double deck of cards by Fournier made in the mid-1990s, featuring photographs of famous paintings on the Aces, court cards, and Jokers – 19 images in all. The art works on the two decks are the same. However the backs show different details from the same painting, “L’Enseigne de Gersaint” by Watteau, which currently hangs at the Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin. The backs are not “put togethers” but rather separate details from the same painting. The cards are accompanied by an insert in 4 languages (Spanish, French, English, German), that identifies the paintings represented on the cards.
Each deck has 52 cards, plus 3 Jokers. The cards are slightly small bridge size, measuring 88mm x 57mm, with gold gilt at the corners. They come in the original packaging, a tray inside a sleeve.
The cards are in excellent condition, “as new” or very nearly so. The paper insert is “as new,” and the tray and sleeve are in excellent condition.
