Mint, sealed deck of very nice cards undoubtedly made by Carta Mundi ("Printed in Belgium") c.1984, published by Aristoplay, Ltd. of the U.S., featuring paintings on each of the 52 playing cards by "13 Modern Masters," namely: Monet, Degas, Renoir, Seurat, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Braque, Picasso, Kirchner, Kandinsky, Klee, and Miro. Each painter is represented 4 times: all 4 Aces are by Miro, all 4 Kings by Klee, etc. Design credit – presumably for the backs and the Jokers – is given to Harlan Quist, a name perhaps best known as a book publishing company. There are pictures of the faces of these cards at another listing in this shop (see, T00002570). That other listing includes the box, while the deck listed here has no box.
The deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers. The cards are quite large for playing cards, measuring 100mm x 65mm. As noted there is no box. In boxed sets of these cards there is usually a pamphlet (or insert cards) with basic information about the painters and paintings on the cards. But I do not think there is a paper insert with this deck, and I cannot tell if there are additional insert cards with the information.
As noted, the cards are mint and sealed.
