Excellent set of the “Fauntleroy 29” patience playing cards made by United States Playing Card Co., featuring backs with the “Earl” illustration, from the Little Lord Fauntleroy children’s novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It has the Ace of Spades and Joker from the 1915 edition of the cards.
The deck is complete with 52 cards, including the special Fauntleroy Ace of Spades, plus the Fauntleroy Joker, plus an extra card advertising USPC “Educational Games.” As noted, the cards are patience size, measuring 63mm x 43mm. They come in the original box with the remnant of an early tax stamp.
The cards are in excellent lightly used condition, with minor wear and evidence of handling. The condition is particularly good, considering that the cards were obviously designed for use by children. The box is in very good condition, structurally sound, but with wear and some soiling.
