Beautiful and charming deck of cards made by Handa of Denmark c.1965, with designs by artist Axel Orn on all cards. The wonderful artwork portrays common humanity. It is gently satirical, reflecting an awareness of human foibles, but with warmth and compassion. There is artwork on all cards. The backs are plain red.
The deck has only 51 of the 52 suited cards (the 6 of Hearts is missing), plus 2 Jokers, plus an unbacked insert card in English describing the artist. The cards are large and wide, measuring 92mm x 62mm, and are accompanied by pieces of the original box.
The cards are in superb condition, "as new" or very nearly so; it is a shame that one of the cards is missing. To say the box is in poor condition would be misleading, as it is in pieces and not a box any more. This item is priced to reflect a missing card and as if there was no box.
