Piatnik (Hungary) “Katja” Playing Cards, Belgian Pattern w/ Scenic Aces, c.1960
Fine deck titled "Katja," made by Piatnik at its plant in Hungary for sale in Holland c.1960. The courts are the Belgian standard pattern, the court indices are Dutch and there are scenic Aces in color with locations from around the world. The backs are delightful, with a cat in each corner. These cards are shown at the World Web Playing Card Museum (WWPCM04594/03B) and dated c.1960, a date that I have adopted.
The deck has 52 cards, plus 3 standard Piatnik (Hungary) Jokers, plus an insert card with bridge scoring in Dutch. The cards are bridge size, measuring 88mm x 58mm. They come in the original box.
The cards are "as new." The box is clean and structurally sound with modest wear; it could stand to be re-glued along one side, but I have not attempted it.
Thanks for visiting.
