Superb set of the very popular pin-up playing cards made by Brown & Bigelow, c.1944, called "Win, Lose or Draw," featuring the designs of Earl MacPherson. It is reported by Martignette and Meisel that B&B received a total of 168,000 orders for these cards in four months. The cards are housed in a distinctive book box, with a poem embossed on the inside cover, and the book box was protected by a cardboard box. The book box has the words "with Duncan" suggesting that these sets of cards were made for a company that had "Duncan" as part of its name; there is no other advertising on the cards or either box.
Each deck has 52 cards, plus a special Joker that also has a poem on it. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, and they come in the boxes noted above.
One of the decks is still sealed. The other is mint, still accompanied by its wrapper, but the wrapper has had its top removed and so the cards can be photographed. The boxes are both "as new."
