Double deck of cards made by Waddington with a risqué image on the backs advertising Healthguard Knitwear. I have seen similarly provocative ads for Healthguard Knitwear that date to the 1940s, but there are 2 Jokers in each deck suggesting to me that they are more likely to date to the 1950s and so I have dated these cards to that decade. The Joker is a standard Waddington joker that, according to the World Web Playing Card Museum, was first used in 1942.
Each deck has 52 cards, with a unique Healthguard Ace of Spades, plus 2 standard Waddington Jokers, as noted. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, with gold gilt around. They come in the original box.
The cards are in good, perhaps very good, used condition. The cards have some soiling and edge wear, and the gold gilt is pretty much worn away. The deck with blue backs is cleaner than the deck with red backs. The box is in very good condition, with relatively clean sample cards.
Thanks for visiting.
