Striking and beautiful deck of cards made by Carta Mundi c.1985, in a limited edition of 2500 decks, featuring the minimalist designs of Dutch artist Robert Van Rixtel. All card values are given in (Dutch) words, not symbols, and the names of the suits are on the side of each card, again in (Dutch) words, not symbols. The only suit symbols in the deck are on the four Aces (“aas”), and the pip cards are only words. In contrast to the “pastel” look of the faces of the cards, the backs are black decked in bright red.
The deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus an additional card announcing the deck. The cards are square cornered, and slightly narrow bridge size, measuring 88mm x 56mm. They come in the original box that bears the words “een kaartspel.”
The cards are “as new.” The box is in excellent condition, with minor wear at the corners.
