Twin decks of a delightful and perhaps somewhat rare deck of patience size children?s cards made by United States Playing Card Co., one c.1932 (black backs) and one c.1933 (orange backs) (USPC ## R2862, S2912, respectively), its ?Toy Town? brand, featuring backs with images of animals and toys popular with children (i.e., clown, dog, fish, bird, etc.). Though I am calling them ?twin? decks, I purchased them at different times from different sellers.
Each deck has 52 cards, including an original Ace of Spades, plus an original Joker. As noted, the cards are patience size, measuring 63mm x 43mm, and even though made for children, have gold gilt around. They come in their original boxes.
The cards are in excellent condition, lightly used if at all, with perhaps 70% of the gold gilt intact on the orange back deck and perhaps 30% intact on the black back deck. The boxes are in excellent condition as well, clean and with only minor signs of wear. The condition of the cards and boxes is somewhat surprising, given that these decks of cards were made for use by children. These cards are not mentioned in the Dawson/Hochman Encyclopedia, and are the first ?Toy Town? decks I have encountered, although they may be more common than I know.
Each deck is available separately for $20.
Thanks for visiting.
