Outstanding miniature German “Sächsisches Doppelbild” (“Saxon Pattern”) skat cards – as small as any I have ever seen – by an unknown maker, with backs advertising Union Cigarettes. The World Web Playing Card Museum shows this deck (with different backs – WWPCM04224), and dates it to 1935, and I have adopted that date. It is accompanied by a matching card holder sized and intended for these cards.
The deck is a skat deck, complete at 32 cards (Daus, 7-K), with traditional German suits (Hearts, Bells, Leaves, Acorns). As noted, the cards are extremely small, measuring 45mm 26mm, with silver gilt framing them at the very edges, and come in the original box.
The cards are in excellent condition, with evidence of handling, and the silver framing intact. The holder and box are also in excellent condition, with only minor signs of wear.
Thanks for visiting.
