Extremely fine bridge set made by Henderson Lithograph Company, promoted as The Henderson Line. The set consists of a score pad and 5 bridge tallies. The underside of the top of the pad contains contract bridge scoring, and the underside of the bottom of the pad contains auction bridge and 500 scoring. I have dated the set 1930, about the time when auction bridge was eclipsed in popularity by contract bridge.
The images on the score pad and tallies are original prints – not reproductions – and the colors are as crisp and clean as the day they were printed. They depict a woman at a country house; the score pad also shows a picket fence and flowers. The prints are lovely. The score pad measure 4.9” by 3.7” and the interior print measures 3.5” x 2.5”. The tallies measure 2.7” x 3.7” and the interior prints measure 1.7” x 2.4”. There is no box.
The condition of the set is superb. There is what appears to be a slight discoloration at the lower right side of the border of the print on the top of the score pad, although it may just be a natural tone inside the paper. In addition, at some point in the history of this set the back of the score pad became stuck to pad itself and was removed in a clumsy way. Otherwise, this item is “as new” with the prints extremely vibrant.
There is a companion set to this one also for sale in this shop (T00001068).
