A very fine romantic combination pendant/brooch set with an enamel plaque depicting a young boy with a sheep in a bucolic setting. The surrounding frame of green and yellow 18k gold leaves and flowers is set with four pearls, probably fine. The top is decorated with a yellow gold bow. The back is set with a mother of pearl panel. Both the pin hook and the pendant hook are hinged and moveable so that it can be worn as either a pendant or a brooch. In very good condition, we only note a tiny loss to one left tip of the gold “ribbon” of the bow. French make, dating to the 1860s to 1880s, approximately. There are no visible hallmarks, but tests confirm that it is 18k gold.
