A magnificent antique, very high karat gold, Swiss enamel pendant locket depicting an elegant woman in full color facing front against a black background. She wears a tiara set with 20 rose cut diamonds, a pair of diamond earrings, and a necklace of nine rose cut diamonds in a manner referred to as “en habillé” (or “dressed”), or thirty-one diamonds total. The image is framed with 42 natural pearls. The locket opens, with a compartment on each side. The left side has a removable glass frame. The right likely had a frame as well, now missing. The locket is marked with a French assay mark, and tests as higher than 18k, possibly 20k gold. It is quite heavy, weighing 21.7 grams. In very good condition, there is a small superficial loss at the lower right side, visible in the last photo, which is greatly magnified.
Size: height just under 2.25” including bale, 1.25” wide, and quite thick at ¼”.
