A very fine eighteen karat yellow gold locket, decorated with alternating agate slices in a sunburst pattern from the mid-Victorian period. Each piece is carefully cut and individually set in gold. The interior contains two compartments with their original glass and gold frames. It is most likely Scottish, with French assay marks possibly added later. Excellent condition; open and closes nicely. An unusual piece.
