A sumptuous stamp case decorated with Boulle work on 5 sides, its quality is exceptional and condition near perfect. Most of these boxes were only decorated on the lid, those decorated on all sides are hard to come by. It dates to about 1840 when Boulle work made a comeback during the Napoleon III era. The Boulle work is in very good condition, noting a small flaw on the upper right-hand corner of the lid and a small loss along the bottom right side. The craftsmanship is remarkable – all sides are deliciously smooth, one can barely feel the outline of the brass. Sublime! Measures just under 3.5" wide x 2.25" deep x 1.25" high.
