A wonderful hard to find doll! This is a great example of the Raleigh Dolls from 1916-1920...They were made by Jessie McCutcheon Raleigh, Chicago, Ill. and distributed by Butler Bros. and possibly a few other stores. This dapper boy has deeply molded and painted original facial features with distinctive painted brown eyes. His face has lots of detail with molded eyelids and the trademark upswing painted eyelash and distinctive trademark painted brows which have faded some with time. He has an open/closed mouth with teeth. Very heavy composition arms and legs with chubby, distinctive hands in fists and flat feet, a solid torso, arms and slant hips. He has crazing and age as expected . It can be seen in photos but is generally in very good condition for his age. Doll is sturdy and display ready. Typical rubs, dings from age and time. Raleigh dolls are really works of art that were designed under the direction of Mrs. Raleigh by students of the Chicago Art Institute...This handsome guy is 13" tall. They are extremely hard to find and very collectible. This is a wonderful example of a very rare doll that is display ready. Truly a wonderful rare find.
