This piece contains a beautiful white precious opal with flashes of blue, green, pink and yellow. The stone measures 6mm square and it is bezel set into a beautiful setting with milgrain around the stone, a pretty heart shaped pattern below that and finally an etched plaque as the base (the base measures 10mm). The overall length is 61mm and it weighs 1.4 grams.
The pin is not marked, but both the frame and the pin acid test as 14K.
I originally purchased this piece to be remade into a ring or pendant and it would look incredible in either of those styles.
Opal was one of Queen Victoria's favorite stones and she often gave them as gifts. This would be a beautiful gift for a stickpin collector as well.
Glowing, iridescent, lovely....all descriptions of this beautiful piece.
