This set is another of Kenneth Lane's beautiful creations for Avon. The brooch has bright textured gold-plated metal with many decorative flourishes, along with two sizes of lustrous imitation pearl cabochons and four clear rhinestones. The matching pierced earrings have one large imitation pearl and four clears.
The brooch measures 2-3/4" long x 2-5/8" wide and has the KJL/Avon snap-lock clasp to attach to almost any necklace or chain which gives it lots of versatility. The earrings are 1-5/16" long x 1" wide.
All pieces are signed with the "KJL for Avon" cartouche on the reverse and are in excellent condition, looking like they have never been worn.
The set looks like it could have been worn by a Renaissance queen and thus the name, "Renaissance Collection".
An identical brooch and earrings along with the matching necklace can be seen on page 24 of Sandra Sturdivant's book, "Identifying Avon Jewelry" where it is noted to have been in the 1991 collection.
