Print entitled “Lil Sis” that is from an original oil by acclaimed African American artist William H Johnson who was born in 1901. Mr. Johnson returned to his hometown of Florence, South Carolina to get reacquainted with his family and paint scenes from the community he grew up in. From his oil on board, circa 1944, it shows a little girl holding a flyswatter next to her baby doll and carriage. She shows hesitant eyes, but is ready to swat flies away from her baby. The golden-yellow background that he painted truly accentuates her small stature. The print is in an aqua mat that brings out the color of the little girl’s dress and the color of the baby carriage. At the bottom left corner of the print is information regarding where his original oil is housed. Acquired from an estate and in its original vintage matte gold frame with glass, it is in very good vintage condition. The print measures 6” by 8” with the frame measuring 9 ¾” by 7 ¾” and ready to hang on your wall.
