Last year, we acquired a large old trunk, mainly full of Victorian and Edwardian era cards, ephemera, paper items, etc., but the owner of the trunk was also the person that made this wonderful old sampler or piece of needlework. It was folded away in there, with some other soft goods, and its really a charming piece. Her initials, HMS, are in the center, and it honestly looks as if it was almost done, as if she left off on the left side's border work. Its 8 & 3/4 by about 7 & 5/8 inches and in very good condition with minor age related wear. You could finish it, frame it as found, or just enjoy it in its original state as we have shown here.
