This is an interesting find - a first edition German language history of the Civil War, published in 1890 by the Milwaukee Herald. It is titled Der Burgerkrieg and was written by Otto Soubron. It is a hardcover 356 page volume with blue cloth over boards that is illustrated with embossing and gold gilt embossed decoration and lettering on he spine. The original fold out map of the US is inside, and there are also numerous illustrations throughout.
Condition is good, with pages free of writing, with the exception of a name in pencil in the front on a blank page, some age tanning and foxing on the pages, and some cover wear and corner bumps. The front hinge is cracked (see last photo), but still attached, and the binding is also intact and sturdy. Overall, a nice copy, in German, for readers who only read or spoke German at the time. A neat addition to a collection of Civil War books, or for a collection based on a German ancestor who served in the Civil War in one of the famed all German regiments.
Please see the photos as they show the condition and detail well.
