This is a neat vintage head vase or planter from the WWII era in the shape of a solider. He is known as Elmer and is made of a a pottery type material. He has incised lines on his head for the hair, and as a result is sometimes called an early Chia Pet planter. This is a typical homefront patriotic piece from the 1940s that is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the paint and color decoration are original. Wear is minor and he stands 6 & 1/2 inches tall. The opening on the top of his head is about 1 & 1/4 inches in diameter, and the edges of it are not quite straight.
