Published in 1886 by McLoughlin Bros of New York, this softcover (stapled wraps) children's book is titled Game Animals and is from their Bird and Animal Series. It features wonderful color plates and detailed information on the animals. The book had just enough pages that I was able to show every one of them in the photos and the front and back covers as well. McLoughlin's incredible chromolithograph illustrations don't disappoint, and this scarce book has a fabulous cover as well.
Condition is very good. The pages are are free of writing and overall the book is very clean, with a few light smudges in the page margins, some light cover wear on the front, and a chipped front bottom corner, a bent top corner and two small tears in the front cover. The back corner has some age darkening along the edges, but is otherwise fine. There are a few tiny tears at the edges of the pages and the spine is split slightly at the top and a little farther at the bottom, with the pages as well, but the book is still sturdy and the pages are still attached. Please review all the photos, as they show the condition well. There is light wear to the color plate of the gnu and faint wear on the boar.
