Published in 1979 by Petersen Publishing Company of Los Angeles, this is the life story of Elmer Keith, entitled Hell, I Was There! Keith was the acknowledged dean of American gun writers who wrote vividly in this book of his experiences in a West that is no more - Keith takes the reader on wild bronco rides, big game hunts from Alaska to Africa, frozen trails in Montana and covers his role in developing .41 and .44 Magnum revolvers, as well as his work for the Army in WWII. This is a book about fascinating people from a bygone era and a life in the rugged outdoors all through the eyes of a man who was actually there. It is an oversized hardcover volume with 308 pages and its original dust jacket. It is in very good clean condition, with clean, tight pages and a strong binding. The dust jacket does have two small tears near the top, one in front and one in back, but is otherwise in nice shape.
