This is a rather hard to find book, especially in such good condition - published in 1856 by R. Spencer of London, this is Rev George Oliver's book entitled The Theocratic Philosophy of Freemasonry, in Twelve Lectures, on its Speculative, Operative, and Spurious Branches. This is the 'New edition" published as a follow up to the original 1840 edition hardcover book with beautiful gold gild lettering on the spine. The dark red cloth over the boards really sets off the gold and the overall condition of the cover and spine, considering the age of this book is very good. There are 355 numbered pages and some unnumbered pages of advertising at the back of the book for R Spencer's other freemason books. The pages are clean and tight and the binding is strong. The only condition item to note is that something was stored inside the front and back covers that yellowed the first and last pages. Otherwise, this book is in great shape for a book published in 1856 and a nice find for the collector of Masonic or freemason items and would be a great addition to your library or collection.
