This is an oil on masonite board by Wallace Leach (1921-2011). Wallace was an accomplished self taught artist. This is a portrait of a local house in the Chambersburg, Pennsylvania area. Here is a brief bio of the artist. After WW2 Wallace received his Masters in English Literature from Penn State University after graduating from Shippensburg High School. Wallace was an extraordinarily talented self taught acrylic and oil artist. He taught art at the Shippensburg Area School District. He also built and decorated furniture for the former Leshers Furniture Store in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. He was a prolific artist and his work was feature in art galleries through the atlantic seaboard in the late 1990’s.
Wallace made all of his frames for each of his painting. This frame is painted gold on the outside and inside accent with an off white center. The frame is hand painted. The outside measures are 16 inches wide and 13 inches high. The art is 13 1/2 by 10 3/4 inches. As can be seen in the pictures the work in in very good condition with vivid colors. On the back of the painting is the title of Home Acres and the artist's signature.
