Victorian Tintype Photo of a Little Girl in a Handmade Velvet Book Frame
This is a lovely old Victorian era tintype of a little girl encased in a hand made red velvet and silk book style frame that opens and closes and is held together with ribbons. The red velvet cover also has some crewel work on it. It measures 5 by 7 and the tintype photo is in a 2 by 3 opening in the silk. Overall condition is good,. There is some light age staining to the white silk on the inside and the red velvet is in nice condition, but faded to a brown cover on the back of the book style frame. The red ribbons holding it together are fragile, but the one in the middle is still strong and holding it together. The bottom ribbon is attached on one side and the top ribbon is very fragile but still attached on both sides. The tintype is i very good condition. This was lovingly hand made, probably by this little girl's mother over 100 years ago and would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
