This hand made piece was probably sold along the south eastern seaboard during the 40’s and 50’s. It features a little boy eating watermelon setting on a conch shell. There is a mule or donkey pulling a larger clam shell. The bottom is marked ‘Made in the USA’. The little boy is bisque and the donkey is metal or a hard plastic with a white enamel paint. The right leg may have been repaired but to me it appears it was attached during the original manufacturing process. This is a interesting piece of folk art from by-gone era. It is 7 1/2 inches long, the shell is 3 1/2 inches wide and the overall height is 3 1/4 inches.
