This is a another great old German book - volume 31 of Gerlach's Jugendbucherei, circa 1917 (no publication date), titled Deutsche Schwante, published by Gerlach & Wiedling. There are 107 total numbered pages in this small hardcover volume, with textual illustrations, as well as the full page color illustrations by Sigmund Von Suchodolski. This rare volume has some cover and spine wear and corner bumps, but the pages and their incredible illustrations are clean. There is some light pencil marking in a small area on the top of the last endpaper and the endpapers has some faint discoloring where they meet the binding. The binding is intact, but slightly loose from the spine. The spine has wear, but the title and the number 31 are still visible. Overall, this is a nice example of an early German children's book, with the incredible illustrations from the well known German artist, Suchodolski. In the last picture, we have shown the hand made Christmas card that was found inside the book.
