This is an incredible find for the collector of rare books - Franz Keim's book entitled Die Nibelungen or The Nibelungs published in 1920 by Gerlach and Wiedling and stamped Printed in Germany on the bottom of one of the last pages. This small hardcover volume contains 67 numbered pages, 16 of which contain the famous color illustrations by Carl Otto Czeschka that make this small volume so wonderful. The illustrations are actually double page illustrations, so there are 8 over 16 total pages. The pages and the illustrations are on smooth cream paper, which is clean, although there is some light age yellowing to the edges. There are also black and white illustrations throughout the pages that tell the story of the Nibelungs and the printed words are outlined with decorative edges. There is no writing and the pages are free of tears. The cover has some wear and the binding is slightly loose from the cover, but the pages are still tight. The title and the number 22 are on the spine. Czeschka was a German artist born in 1878, died in 1960. This particular book is listed in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art under German Expressionism. We have included as many pictures are possible in the listing, however, if you need more, please let us know.
