This is a nice find for the collector of Civil War history - published in 1899 by the US Army and Navy Historical Association, and written by J. Worth Carnahan, this book is entitled Manual of the Civil War and Key to the Grand Army of the Republic and Kindred Societies.
It is a hardcover, illustrated volume, with a wonderfully embossed ornate cover. Condition is quite good, with 255 clean, tight pages, no foxing and minor cover wear. For a book that is 116 years old, its condition is surprising. The only condition items to note are edge chipping on the first and last pages and the binding is exposed at the front and back decorative end papers (shown in the last picture), but the binding is strong and the spine is in great shape as well.
At the end of the book, there are blank pages for a soldier's reminiscences of the war as well as a form from the Army and Navy Historical Association for the soldier to file his military record in their archives. This would be a great addition to your library or collection.
