This is a beautiful old illustrated Victorian poetry book published in 1887 by HM Caldwell and Company and copyrighted by Estes & Lauriat. It is entitled Song of the River by Charles Kingsley and has great great illustrations throughout. 16 illustrations are listed by their artist and that they were drawn and engraved under the supervision of George T Andrew. The illustrators of the engravings are: WL Taylor, Charles Copeland, George Teel, JD Woodward, H. Winthrop Pierce, C. Hirschberg, W.St. F. Harper, WF Halsall and HP Barnes.
The book is in good condition with the majority of the pages clean, however some have marks or light foxing. The cover has some wear and corner bumps. The binding is intact, but as you can see from the pictures of the spine, it is fragile. Considering the age, though, this is not unexpected. Overall, though, this is a nicely illustrated book, with work done by some great artists.
