This is a fun vintage pair of art deco porcelain ashtrays that feature ballerinas on playing cards, with lustre glaze on their skirts. They are both in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs, a little wear to the gold trim, and are marked Made in Japan in red on the underside. There are some heavy mold lines on the underside in the unglazed area, but these would have occurred in the making. Ashtrays like these were popular for use during bridge games. They measure just under 2 inches high and are 3.5 by 4 inches wide. They do not look as if they were used for their intended purpose. I've also seen these used as trinket or ring holders on dressers and they would look darling in a little ballerina's room.
