This is a wonderful find for the collector - a first edition, author signed with inscription, Civil War Book by Glenn Worthington, published in 1932 by the Frederick County Historical Society. It is titled Fighting for Time or the Battle that Saved Washington and Mayhap the Union and is a hardcover volume with 306 pages, including maps and illustrations and details the events leading up to and including the Battle of Monocacy, Maryland (fought at the Monocacy River, near Frederick, Maryland) on July 9, 1864. General Lew Wallace said of his men who fell at Monocacy: "These men died to save the National Capital, and they did save it."

Condition is very good, with minimal cover wear, clean, tight pages and a strong binding. Also included is a pamphlet with reviews of the book when it was first published.

The inscription inside, which is signed by the author, was made out to Colonel Walter D. Smith, Chief, Historic Section of the Army War College in Washington, DC.
