This is a nice early piece of Brittania metal pewter from James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield England. It is marked with their older trumpet mark and is actually a 2 piece candlestick that allows you to pull the center piece out and carry it or set it down with the side weight balancing it, or leave the center piece inside the center of the bowl where it fits and let the candle burn longer as the bowl will catch the drippings. It is in nice condition with no damage and has not been cleaned, so the patina is intact. There are some scratches, but considering this dates to the late 1800s, that is to be expected. It is a nice heavy piece, too, very well made. It stands about 2.25 inches tall and is 7 inches in diameter. This is a rather uncommon form and is a great display piece.
